TROOP 72 48 EAGLES & COUNTING!

|
Boy Scouts Troop 72 of the Boone Trails District, Greater St. Louis Area Council, is proud to be chartered by VFW Post 2866, Kohl-Jeck Post in St. Charles, Missouri.
The purpose and goal for Troop 72 is to instill values in young men and to prepare them to make ethical choices during their lifetime, in achieving their full potential. The Troop’s values are based on those found in the Scout Oath and Scout Law. We accomplish this by working toward the Aims of Scouting by using the Methods of Scouting as our basis.

100 Years of Eagles–Where Are They Now Album
Since 1912, more than 2.1 million Scouts have reached this high achievement. To celebrate this milestone, the National Eagle Scout Association has partnered with Harris Connect to produce the 100 Years of Eagles–Where Are They Now album. This special anniversary publication is an all-new, follow-up book to our highly successful Tales From the Trails publication. It will include personal stories, photos, and Scouting experiences and accomplishments from all Eagles who participate.

Francis Howell North Interview with Zack Ehlers
Since he was a kid, Zack Ehlers has been on a track. Since he first put on the uniform seven years ago, he has been working passionately in one of the most far reaching youth programs in the nation. While many have left the program, Ehlers is, and intends to remain, an avid and devoted Boy Scout. "It’s a learning experience," Ehlers said. "It’s adventurous and it’s something I love to do." To read (or listen to) the entire interview, click here to be taken to Francis Howell North’s website.
New Pictures in Photo Gallery!
There are new pictures from Cannon Dam Cabins in the Photo Gallery. If you would like your pictures uploaded, please email them to Sherri Giacalone or you may provide them on a CD or flash drive for upload.
Welcome New Scouts!
Troop 72 would like to welcome Seth McKee, Jordan Milewczik, and Josh Schultz from Pack 83! We are glad that you have joined our troop family. Click here to see our New Members’ area with helpful information. Contact Sherri Giacalone for a userid and password if you do not already have one.
Health History Forms Needed Before Summer Camp! (Parts A, B & C including Physical)
Updated Health History Forms need to be turned in before summer camp this year. Everyone who participates in a Scouting event should have an annual medical evaluation by a certified and licensed health-care provider—a physician (MD or DO), nurse practitioner or physician assistant. A current copy of your insurance card is also required with the medical form. Our troop also has an annual Over-the-Counter Medication Permission Form. You must have an updated medical form and medication form on file to be able to go to summer camp! Please contact Sarah McCorkle with any questions.
BSA Snorkel Award
Y-Kiki-Divers is offering a program to earn the BSA Snorkel Award (using an indoor pool). The cost will be $10 per person if we can get a group of 10 or more Scouts signed up. Those completing the requirements qualify for a recognition card and patch which is worn on the left side of the swim trunks (not on the uniform). Click here to see Y-Kiki’s flyer. Click here to see more information on the BSA Snorkel Award and its requirements. Mr. Gorzel will be putting out a sign-up sheet at an upcoming troop meeting to see if there is enough interest. Contact Mr. Gorzel if you have any questions. (There is also an opportunity to earn the BSA Scuba Award if interested.)

For those who are new — we work at the arena in concessions to raise funds for the Scout accounts (this helps pay for troop expenses including camping, summer camp, etc). Once the scout turns 16, they can be used as runners (the +1) to earn money for their accounts or their Eagle project reserve fund. The six are cashiers and are expected to work a cash register. We only take adults as runners if we don’t have enough boys to volunteer. Sign ups are on a first come basis. Once I have filled all the spots I will add you to the back up list in case someone has to back out or illness. Due to the decrease in the number needed by the arena, I am asking for only one family member to work (runners are not included as these are for the boys’ Eagle accounts). If you wish to add more than one family member I will put them down on the back up list in case we do not get enough workers. I would like to give everyone a chance to work. Dress for working is black pants (no jeans, shorts or capris), troop T-shirt (see Sherri Giacalone for troop apparel) or arena shirt (provided at the arena), hat (scout related preferably), and close-toed shoes (no sandals or Crocs). Failure to abide by this dress code could get our group expelled from the program. It is important if you sign up to work that you make it a priority to be there. We will be penalized if you sign up to work and don’t show up to work (barring any emergencies). If you are interested in working any of these dates, please contact me. — Mindi Milewczik
